The 'Justice League' movie is in the deep planning stages at Warner Bros. with a 2015 release date tentatively planned. The film will finally team up Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, the Green Lantern, Flash and more but what villain could possible be powerful enough to be a match for some of Earth's mightiest superheroes? Let's find out...

Latino Review, who first broke the news that Thanos would appear in 'The Avengers' and be the big bad guy in Phase 2 of the Marvel cinematic universe, reveals that Darkseid (pronounced "darkside") will be the 'Justice League' villain. So who is this Darkseid?

One of the "new Gods," Darkseid is one of the most powerful characters in the DC Comics universe. Superman is one of the only people on Earth who can even come close to challenging his powers (so he'll need the help of the rest of the Justice League to defeat him). He can teleport through time and space, shoot Omega beams from his eyes and energy blasts from his hands.

Interestingly enough, Darkseid (created by the legendary Jack Kirby in the early '70s) was designed after actor Jack Palance.

Darkseid was used as the villain in the direct-to-DVD animated film 'Superman/Batman Apocalypse' where he was voiced by Andre Braugher and was the main bad guy in the final season of 'Smallville.'

It's a smart choice (who really wants to see the Justice League fight Lex Luthor?...) but one that will find many comparisons to Thanos, another mad God, from 'The Avengers.' Is Warner Bros. trying a little too hard to match Marvel's success? What do you think? Is this a good choice? Will Darkseid have a cameo at the end of 'Man of Steel?'
