It looks as though Patrick Mahomes never had a doubt in his mind that his shoulder was hurt, in the Texas Tech Kansas State first half. Despite Mahomes 4 total touchdowns, Texas Tech is down 31-28.

Mahomes and the Red Raiders opened the game with a 14 play 5:00 minute drive capped off by a Mahomes rushing touchdown.

Kansas State answered on a Charles Jones 12 yard touchdown run, after a roughing the passer penalty on a 3rd down play.

On the ensuing possession Derek Willies whiffed on a block allowing DJ Reed to jump a short route from Patrick Mahomes for a pick 6.

That wouldn't slow down Texas Tech who scored on a 61 yard pass to Keke Coutee, who had a masterful run after the catch to take it all the way to the house. After the touchdown Coutee got a personal foul for hushing the crowd.

After holding K State to a field goal, Mahomes got his second rushing touchdown of the year. This one a 16 yard run up the seam of the defense.

The Texas Tech Defense almost had a goal line stand on the next possession but the Wildcats powered in on a QB sneak.

This makes it 21-24 Wildcats.

Mahomes leads the Red Raiders on a methodical 10 play 80 yard drive capped off by his 3rd rushing touchdown.

With 1:31 left in the first half and a chance to go into halftime with a 28-24 lead, the Red Raiders special teams rears it's ugly head and gives up a kick off return.

31-28. Thats how the half ended after a Texas Tech punt.

Texas Tech has more yards and offensive touchdowns. They are leading the time of possession battle. They aren't winning because they have given up 6 penalties for 70 yards and have a turnover that led directly to a score.

To win this game the Red Raiders must play mistake free for a half. Can they do it?
