#15 Kansas State beat Texas Tech Red Raider Baseball 4-3 in the opening day of pool play at the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship in Oklahoma City.

Texas Tech ace Trey Masek (5-2) pitched a complete game in the loss, his third complete game of the season.

First baseman (#12) Eric Gutierrez extended his home run streak to four games with a bomb to left in the fourth inning. Gutierrez went 1-for-2 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored.

Kansas State got out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning. They added their final three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Two of the runs were scored off of sacrifice flies. The final run of the inning was scored when Masek threw a wild pitch to Mitch Meyer which allowed Lance Miles to score.

Texas Tech is the 8th seed in the Big 12 Championship.  Their next game in pool play is Friday at 9a against Oklahoma.  The game will be televised on FOX College Sports and FOX Sports Southwest-Plus.
