Texas Tech Head Football Coach Kliff Kingsbury made a pair of announcements on Monday (Jan. 4) pertaining to next season's Red Raiders coaching staff.

The first move of Texas Tech's 2015 off-season coaching carousel was the hiring of Joe Robinson as the Red Raiders new Special Teams coach.

Robinson comes over from South Carolina where he ran Special Teams for the Gamecocks.

"We are extremely excited to add Coach Robinson to our staff…Every year, his special teams are among the best in the nation," said Kingsbury. "He will provide invaluable expertise to not only our special teams but our overall team.”

The next item on Kingsbury's to-do list was to promote from within.

Former Director of Player Development Emmett Jones will serve as an offensive assistant in 2016, with specific position duties to be announced at a later date.

The former head coach of South Oak Cliff High School made his name making deep playoff runs at the 5A level and accumulated a 30-8 record before he signed on at Tech as director of player development in 2015.

Kingsbury described Jones as “an extremely hard working individual and already an integral part of our staff.”

With more positions to fill along the coaching staff, this should prove to be a critical off-season for the up and coming Red Raiders.
