Amidst a celebration following Texas Tech's first win since 1997 in Austin against Texas, Coach Kliff Kingsbury awarded two game balls to two very-deserving Red Raiders.

The first game ball was awarded to Place Kicker Clayton Hatfield, who added six points to the scoreboard, including an incredible 51-yard field goal.

"I couldn't be more proud of the way he stepped up," said Kingsbury, who then surprised the freshman by telling him he's now on scholarship.

For Jakeem Grant, the Texas Tech-Texas game was already special for so many reasons. But earning the second game ball capped off an incredible season for the Mesquite native.

Grant's performance helped him become Texas Tech's all-time leading receiver with 3,164 career receiving yards. The record was previously held by Michael Crabtree, who ended his time as a Red Raider with 3,127 yards in two seasons of play.

"There's been a lot of great wide receivers playing here - Michael Crabtree, Wes Welker...on this team we now have the all-time leading wide receiver in the history of Texas Tech," Kingsbury said before handing Grant the second game ball.

Hoisted in the air by his teammates, Grant thanked them for standing by him during thick and thin: "I love y'all, man."
