The Lady Raiders basketball team is now on the Top 25 list.

The Texas Tech women’s basketball team has been ranked 25 on the Associated Press Top 25 Poll. They earned 69 points in the voting process, marking the first time the Lady Raiders have been ranked since January 24th.

Their last ranking last January was 25th in the USA Today/Coaches Poll. The last time they were ranked in the AP Poll was late November of 2006.

The Lady Raiders opened the season against New Mexico at the United Spirit Arena, beating the Lobos 69 to 43 Friday evening.

Sophomore forward Kelsi Baker scored 12 points in the matchup, tying her career high. She was followed by Monique Smalls and Kierra Mallard, who each scored 11 points, and 10 from Casey Morris.

The women will face Houston at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the first road game of the season.

Texas A&M is ranked 6th, Tennessee has been ranked 3rd, followed by Notre Dame in 2nd. Baylor heads up the AP Poll.
