The Texas Tech women's basketball team started out the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic with a loss as they fell to the Michigan State Spartans 50-48 in overtime.

Foward Kelsi Baker led Tech in scoring with 13 points.  Christine Hyde contributed with nine points while Monique Smalls rounded out the scoring with eight points, seven rebounds and three steals.  Smalls hit a key 3-pointer to tie the game at 44 and send it to overtime.  Tech shot 29.3 percent from the field, making 17 of 58 shots attempted.

On the other side of the court, Jasmine Thomas and Kiana Johnson led the Spartans in scoring with 11 points.  Becca Mills contributed with eight points while Courtney Schiffauer rounded out the scoring with seven points.  Michigan State shot 32.7 percent from the field, making 18 of 55 shots attempted.

The Lady Raiders have a chance to rebound from this loss as they are in action today at the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic against Oregon State.  Tip off is at 4:30 pm.
