Lady Raiders Take Down Missouri
For the second straight game, the Texas Tech Lady Raider basketball team played come from behind basketball to claim a big win as they took down Missouri 63-56 last night from the United Spirit Arena.
The Lady Raiders trailed by 14 at one point in the game before coming together to claim the 7 point victory. The come back was sparked by Sophomore Chynna Brown as she recorded her career high of 22 points in the win. The Lady Raider defense also played a major role in the win as they held the Lady Tigers to 19 percent shooting from the floor in the second half and forced 26 turnovers in the game.
The win improved the Lady Raiders to 15-1 on the season and 2-0 in Big 12 play. The 2-0 start in conference play is the best start for a Lady Raider team, in the Big 12, under Head Coach Kristy Curry. Tech is also just three wins shy of matching the season high wins total for a Lady Raider team under Curry. Last year’s 18 win season is the highest in Kristy’s 4 previous seasons.
The Lady Raiders are starting to get national attention with their new found success as they have received votes in Top 25 polls and have had increased attendance for their games this season. Many Lady Raider fans haven’t seen a season this successful since the 2004-2005 season, the second to last coaching year for Texas Tech great Marsha Sharp.
Texas Tech will look to extend their current 8 game winning streak on Saturday as they play host to Kansas State. Tip off, from the United Spirit Arena, is set for 2.
