On Tuesday night it was announced that the Houston Astros will be without key pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. next season as he will have Tommy John Surgery and will be sidelined until 2020.

McCullers went 10-6 with a 3.18 ERA in 2018.

He was placed on the disabled list with elbow discomfort from Aug. 5 to Sept. 24 but returned during the final week of the season, making three scoreless appearances. He also made five playoff appearances, posting a 1.80 ERA.

McCullers seems to be in high spirits despite the injury announcement as he was on Twitter telling all of his fans that he will be back better than ever.

The 25-year-old holds a career record of 29-22 with a 3.67 ERA.
