Legendary Texas Tech Lady Raider basketball coach Marsha Sharp is set to take on a new role with the athletics department, with a focus on professional development and community engagement. Sharp will serve the department as associate athletics director and will continue to oversee the Marsha Sharp Leadership Circle while also providing professional development for coaches, staff and student-athletes alike.

“Marsha Sharp has made unprecedented contributions to Texas Tech University,” said Texas Tech AD Kirby Hocutt.  “For years, her leadership enhanced the student-athlete experience on our campus and we take tremendous pride in the accomplishments of coach Sharp and her teams.  I am pleased that she has agreed to take on this new role, and I look forward to working with her as our department moves forward.”

Sharp led the Lady Raiders to the 1993 NCAA Championship as a coach, and is a member of the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame. As part of her new endeavor, Sharp announced her resignation as Executive Director of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, a position she’s held since May of 2009.
