A possible inappropriate communication between a Levelland High School teacher and student is being investigated by the Levelland Police Department.

According to a press release from the school district, the allegation of misconduct by a teacher or coach was made Tuesday, May 17, 2016. No details about what was communicated by the teacher to the student were provided.

Levelland ISD placed the accused employee on paid administrative leave that day. One day later, they resigned. That information was passed along to both local and state law enforcement and the State Board for Educator Certification, the school district said.

A followup by Levelland ISD noted that the Levelland Police Department is now conducting a criminal investigation into the incident. So far, no one has been arrested.

The school district added that it has completed all required actions following the allegation and will not release any more information about it due to state and federal privacy laws.
