A Lubbock firefighter is fighting back against the system, claiming that the rules weren't followed when it came to his chance at a promotion.

Charles A. Turner sued the City of Lubbock on Friday, August 26. He claims that Lubbock Fire Rescue violated the city’s Civil Service Commission rules in passing him over for promotion.

KAMC reports that it began in June when Turner took an exam to be considered for the rank of Equipment Operator. The lawsuit states that after two weeks the city’s Civil Service Commission threw out the results of Turner's test. The department then picked another firefighter to get the promotion.

Turner's lawsuit doesn't ask for money, aside from court and attorney fees, but instead asks for Turner to be rightfully promoted.
