Lubbock's Boil Water Notice has been extended.

According to the City of Lubbock, the notice, which was issued Saturday, August 20 after a contractor ruptured a major distribution line in North Lubbock, remains in effect today, Wednesday, August 24.

A new water test is being conducted, and results are due Thursday, August 25. There is currently too much sediment in the water, reports Everything Lubbock.

Only the following areas are being asked to boil their water:

  • Hillcrest Country Club subdivision between Kent and Purdue Streets and University and Boston Avenues
  • The businesses along the North University Avenue corridor north of Loop 289 including X-FAB, AT&T and the State Supported Living Center
  • The area north of Erskine Street and south of Loop 289 between North Avenue X and Cesar E. Chavez Drive

Workers continue to mend the ruptured North University Avenue line continues, said The City of Lubbock in a press release. The southbound lane on the road has been reduced to one lane at Cesar E. Chavez Drive.
