A woman was arrested in Lubbock late Wednesday, May 3rd after a stabbing.

At about 7:30 p.m., Lubbock Police received a call from UMC that a man was in an emergency room with a stab wound.

Investigators later determined the injuries occurred during a domestic altercation between the man, 25-year-old Cruz Anthony DeLeon, and his common-law wife, 28-year-old Milinda Castro.

Officers quickly questioned 28-year-old Milinda Castro at their residence in the 2000 block of 38th Street. Castro claimed that DeLeon assaulted her while she was doing dishes and that the stabbing was accidental.

But officers at the scene say she suffered no injuries to support her story and promptly arrested her on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

From the Lubbock Police Department's police report on the incident (via Everything Lubbock):

[Castro] then advised that she was holding her baby as she knocked the knife off of the counter and into [the victim]. [Castro] was asked if she was doing the dishes or holding her baby and [Castro] advised she was doing both. I asked [Castro] how far away [the victim] was from her when she launched the knife gently in his direction. [Castro] advised that [the victim] was standing by the front door when the knife hit him. Due to the distance between the kitchen sink and there front door, I did not believe it would be plausible for the knife to travel that far and cause that much damage unless it had been picked up and purposely thrown into [the victim’s] direction.

Milinda Castro is currently being held in the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond.
