'Tis the season for the Lubbock Downtown Farmers Market to make a big appearance with their Seedling and Plant Sale.

This Saturday, May 6th, a special Spring Market will open from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. at 19th Street and Buddy Holly Avenue.

According to their website, they will have all of their produce, dairy and meat, plus a variety of vendors. They're also bringing out plants, seedlings and seeds just in time for some spring planting. This should be a lot of fun for everyone.

You can also expect to see tomato planting demonstrations every 30 minutes. Since I love tomatoes, I will definitely want to catch one of those. I know there are so many varieties of tomatoes that are tough to find in the store and it would sure be great to grow some at home.

There was a great old country song you may remember from Guy Clark called "Homegrown Tomatoes." It says a lot!

My grandparents used to grow the best homegrown tomatoes. They were a whole different world from the regular store-bought variety.

The Farmers Market spring season officially gets underway June 3rd and runs through the summer and the fall wrapping up October 28th.

Don't miss this special Farmers Market event this Saturday, May 6th, at 19th and Buddy Holly Avenue. Find more details on the Lubbock Downtown Farmer's Market Facebook page.
