A male student at Coronado High School was arrested Monday by police after an unloaded gun was found in his backpack.

Lubbock ISD officials said that parents of Coronado students were notified of the incident yesterday. No threats were reportedly made by the student and, according to school principal Dr. Jerry Adams, no ammunition was found. The student was removed from campus.

Since the student is a juvenile, his identity will not be released.

According to Lubbock ISD, the student may be placed in the district’s alternative education program.
