Lubbock native Madisyn Cox competed in Olympic Swim Trials this weekend in Omaha, Nebraska.

KAMC News reports Cox placed 6th overall in the 400 Individual Medley on Sunday morning, granting her a berth in the finals.

Then on Sunday night, Cox finished 4th in the final heat, coming up just short of her bid to partake in the upcoming Olympic games in Rio.

Cox’s high school swim coach Trey Hayes told KAMC News that Cox anticipates training for the 2020 Olympics and will attend medical school afterwards with aspirations of one day being a neurosurgeon.
