Major League Baseball Round-Up: Yu Darvish Strikes Out 8 in Rangers Win Over Reds 3-2, Angels Outlast Astros 3-1
Yu Darvish struck out eight batters in six-plus innings of shut-out baseball to push the Texas Rangers past the Cincinnati Reds 3-2.
The win for Darvish was his first win since May 16th and his record now stands at 8-3. Elvis Andrus and Nelson Cruz broke a 0-0 tie in the 5th innings with an RBI from each hitter.
Texas finishes the month of June with .500 record after starting the month 4-10. The Rangers have Monday off before continuing the home stand with the Mariners for a three-game midweek series starting Tuesday.
The Houston Astros hung tough with the Los Angeles Angels Sunday, but fell short in the late innings 3-1.
Angels outfielder Josh Hamilton hit the go-ahead run on a double in the eighth inning. C.J. Wilson earned the win for the Angels throwing seven innings giving up one run to win his 8th game of the season.
Lucas Harrell earned a no-decision in the game going seven innings while giving up a run and striking out seven. The Astros start a four-game series Monday in Houston with the Tampa Bay Rays.
