A former jail deputy for the Lubbock Sheriff's Office will serve four years of probation and community service after pleading guilty for online solicitation of a minor.

According to Everything Lubbock, 52-year-old Mario Luna pleaded guilty Thursday, May 12. As part of the plea deal accepted by State District Judge William R. Eichman, Luna was sentenced to four years probation and community service, with the condition that should he not complete the sentence he will spend 10 years in prison.

Luna was arrested by authorities in Lubbock back in December 2013 when he attempted to solicit someone who was posing online as a 16-year-old girl.

The former LSO employee will register as a sex offender for the four years of his probation along with the 10 years of his suspended prison term.
