Mario Williams Leaves Houston Texans for Buffalo Bills

Former No. 1 overall draft pick Mario Williams has left the Houston Texans for the up-start Buffalo Bills. Williams this morning signed a 6-year $96 million deal. Over half of the contract, $50 million, will be guaranteed. Williams will be used as a pass-rusher in the Bills defense. During his time in Houston, Williams was positioned as either a defensive end, or outside linebacker.

In six seasons, 82 career games, with the Texans, Williams picked up 53 sacks and was a part of the Texans first-ever playoff run last season before getting injured.

"It's been a long day or a long two days," Bills general manager Buddy Nix said during Williams' introductory news conference, covered by NFL.com. "A lot of times (Ralph Wilson, owner) takes some heat for not spending the money and not wanting the money and not wanting to win and all of those things. And I've told you guys many times that he's never said don't do it, that's too much money. He's always said do whatever it takes. ... I think he's proved that."
