There were rumblings around Lubbock over the past few months concerning Michael Brewer's future at Texas Tech and they proved true on Wednesday.  Texas Tech Athletics announced that Brewer will transfer from Tech after the completion of the Spring Semester.

Brewer, a sophomore quarterback, played in 13 games over two seasons for the Red Raiders. He was slated to be the starting quarterback coming into the 2013 season before an injury sidelined him in fall camp.

Brewer released a statement through Texas Tech's Blayne Beal,"I am honored to receive my degree from Texas Tech and will always call this university home. I will never forget the friendships and memories I have made here at Texas Tech. Lubbock has been nothing but great to me and my family and we will always appreciate that. Wherever I may go, I hope our fans will respect the person and player that I am.

"The decision to transfer was well thought out by my family and myself and was one of the toughest of my life. I feel it’s the right decision for me moving forward. As always, Guns Up!”

Brewer will earn an university studies degree from Texas Tech in May.

Davis Webb is now the only quarterback on the Texas Tech roster with game experience and he will be expected to receive first-team reps in spring practice.
