Former Ole Miss and Arkansas offensive line coach Mike Markuson has emerged as a candidate to fill the open Texas Tech offensive line coaching job.

Markuson was ex-Arkansas and Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt's offensive line coach/run game coordinator for the last 18 seasons before Nutts dismissal at Ole Miss. Markuson's management of the running game has produced a rushing offense unparalleled in the SEC, including a seven-year stretch of ranking top-three in the league. After boasting the league's top ground game in four of his last five seasons at Arkansas, Markuson helped the Ole Miss rushing attack rise from one of the SEC's worst to one of the best, save for the 2011 season. Since Tuberville arrived in Lubbock, more emphasis has been put on the run game, and if that trend is to continue, this seems like one of the better coaches in the country.

Nothing is official as of yet, Jim Turner, A&M Offensive line coach is also rumored to be a candidate for the job.
