Mike Napoli belted a 3 run homer to push the Texas Rangers to a 4-2 victory over the Seattle Mariners. Nelson Cruz also homered for the Rangers.

Later in the game, the two would again combine, this time for a huge defensive play that ultimately won the game for the Rangers. With the game still in question in the eight inning, Mariner Brendan Ryan hit a liner to right center field that bounced just in front of Craig Gentry, who layed out to make the play. With Gentry unable to make the play, Nelson Cruz fielded the ball, chunked it to Ian Kinsler, who made one of the best throws of the season to prevent the inside the park homerun and the tie game.

Matt Harrison went seven innings, allowing two runs and striking out five. The Rangers improved to an American League best 31-18 on the season, second only in the majors to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
