Paramount really wants you to see Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation and they’re nudging you in the ribs using the most effective marketing tactic in the history of marketing tactics...they’re giving you free stuff. Specifically, they’re giving you free digital copies of the first four Mission: Impossible movies, reminding you that this series has been 75% good and that you should start getting excited for the new one.

Getting your free movies does require you to sign up for two free accounts. First, you’ll need to head over to Paramount’s official site and click on any one of the Mission: Impossible titles. You will be directed to create a Paramount movies account. Then, unless you have one already, you will need to create an Ultraviolet account, where you can store your library of future and existing digital purchases. And then you’re free to download all four movies to your heart’s desire.

The Mission: Imposible movies have never been big on continuity, so it’s not like you have to revisit the entire series to appreciate Rogue Nation (which is apparently a very good movie). Still, each movie is so different from the rest that it’s fun to see how much they have changed over the years. Each director puts his own unique stamp on each movie, with Tom Cruise and his totally insane willingness to cheat death being the only constant. Anyone who is interested in charting the always-shifting evolution of the action movie genre should study these things. And they’re free! What’s your excuse to not take a second look?

Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation opens this Friday.
