An accident in Lubbock Monday morning (May 18) claimed the life of a motorcyclist.

According to the Lubbock Police Department, a 2007 Petersbuilt semi-truck collided with a 2013 Yamaha motorcycle near West Loop 289.

Police say that the semi-truck, which was traveling westbound in the 1000 block of the West Loop 289 Access Road and making a right-hand turn onto Frankford Ave., failed to yield the right of way to the motorcycle, which was traveling northbound on Frankford Ave.

The driver of the motorcycle, Joe Bill Johnson, 36, was transported from the scene of the accident to UMC. Johnson died at the hospital.
