NASCAR officials  on Thursday said that there wouldn’t be big changes for the upcoming 2012 race season after one of its most exciting seasons ever with Tony Stewart outlasting Carl Edwards.

Some small changes are being considered which include two-car drafting racing at Daytona and Talladega race tracks. Brian France, Chairman and CEO of NASCAR, said at a preseason press conference that two-car drafting evolved into something that no one saw coming, and now we’re going to deal with that.”

France also said that the introduction of the wild card and the simplification of the Sprint Cup points system last season was a success and the format won’t change this year.

The NASCAR Sprint Cup season begins Saturday February 18th at Daytona International Speedway in Florida.
