No. 19 Oklahoma State swept Texas Tech Softball over the weekend in Stillwater winning Saturday 2-1 in extra innings and Sunday 7-1.

Simone Freeman held Texas Tech to 1 hit and struck out 14 en route to the 7-1 Sunday defeat. Freeman’s only bad mark on the outing was a 2nd inning home run to Cydney Allen as she was the only other Tech player to reach base until Mikey Kenney after being plunked by a pitch in the seventh. Her performance marked the first time Tech had recorded only one hit in a game since falling to Nebraska, 3-1, a year ago on March 10.

Alysia Hamilton got the Cowgirls going at the plate in the first, dropping a two-out double to the gap in right. She scored later as Chelsea Garcia connected on a RBI single in shallow right. Julie Ward added to the OSU lead with double down the line in left that allowed Garcia to score. OSU’s middle of its lineup of Hamilton, Garcia and Ward combined to go 5-for-9 at the plate.

Following Allen’s one out homer in the top of the second, the Cowgirls added another run in the bottom of the inning thanks to Ashley Graham’s first of two home runs in the game.

Oklahoma State put the game away in the fifth, scoring four runs in the inning which began with a leadoff solo homer from Graham. The first five OSU batters in the innings recorded hits before Brokeshoulder came in to end the damage.

Texas Tech is now 39-9 overall and 4-8 in the conference at 8th place. Oklahoma State improves to 5-4 in conference play and 33-10 overall. The Red Raiders will return to Rocky Johnson Field next weekend for their final home series of the year as No. 4 Texas travels to Lubbock for a two-game series that begins at 6 p.m. Friday.
