A rowdy crowd of over 8,900 watched the #19 Texas Tech Lady Raiders beat #16 Penn State 70-66 at the United Spirit Arena today.

The Lady Raiders had to fight an uphill battle after getting down 8 points about halfway though the first half.  At halftime, Penn State had a 2 point lead at 36-34. After trading shots, and the lead, after halftime, the Lady Raiders took control of the game by going on a 11-2 run.

Lady Raider Head Coach Kristy Curry talked about the win, "It was awesome. I am so proud of these kids and the way they competed down the stretch. I want to credit Penn State, they gave us an opportunity to get better today. They are going to compete for a Big Ten title. There is not a better backcourt that I have seen in a long time, but I thought ours was pretty good today too though.”

The Lady Raiders were once again led by junior forward Kierra Mallard.  She scored 18 points and had a career-high 15 rebounds for her third double-double of the season and 19th of her career. Mallard has led Tech in rebounding in all but two games this season and is averaging 11.3 rebounds per game.

With the win, the Lady Raiders are now 7-0 on the season.
