The best season in Texas Tech Lady Raider Tennis history came to an end Friday afternoon in Coral Gables, FL. The No. 21 Lady Raiders fell to the No. 37 Utah Lady Utes 4-3 in the First Round of the NCAA Women's Tennis Tournament in their first trip to the tournament in school history.

Texas Tech jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the match off the strength of its doubles teams of Caroline Starck/Nikki Sanders and Elizabeth Ullathorne/Rashmi Teltumbde. Samantha Adams and Nikki Sanders cruised to singles match victories. Utah then would rally from the edge of defeat to win four consecutive matches to oust the Lady Raiders from the tournament for a 4-3 victory. Utah had defeated Texas Tech earlier this season in a tournament in Las Vegas.

The loss ends the team portion of Tech's season, but individual performers performers Samantha Adams/Kenna Kilgo ranked No. 19 in doubles will advance later this month to the NCAA Individual Championships.

Texas Tech ends their season with a 19-6 record and as the Big 12 Conference Champions.
