Backup quarterback Case McCoy led the Longhorns on two touchdown drives in the fourth quarter to bring the No. 23 Texas Longhorns back to defeat the Kansas Jayhawks 21-17 in Lawrence Saturday afternoon.

McCoy came in for the benched David Ash to complete 5 of 7 passes for 68 yards and the game winning 1 yard touchdown pass to D.J. Grant with 13 seconds left to give the Jayhawks their 17th consecutive Big 12 loss.

The Longhorns (6-2, 3-2 Big 12) trailed 14-7 starting the 4th quarter and McCoy entered the game where Texas ran the seven straight plays en route to a Marquise Goodwin 2 yard touchdown run.

The Jayhawks (1-7, 0-5 Big 12) only threw nine passes all game as they ran the ball effectively against the reeling Texas defense racking up 234 yards rushing, but only 39 yards through the air.

Texas was paced on the ground by freshman Jonathan Gray with 109 yards on 19 carries and Goodwin with 52 yards and a score.

The Longhorns take on Texas Tech in Lubbock next week while Kansas is on the road at Baylor.
