No. 25 Texas Tech Women’s Basketball had a big road victory last night.

The Lady Raiders jumped on the Houston Lady Cougars early and often in the first half and defeated Houston 88-58. The Lady Cougars were held to 28% shooting in the game and were down at the half 39-16. Texas Tech was led by Chyna Brown with 21 points and Kierra Mallard had a dominating 16 points and 13 rebounds.

The Lady Raiders hit the court again next week hosting the Basketball Travelers Tournament.

Texas Tech Men’s Basketball earned its second victory of the young season.

Texas Tech held off a late rally and defeated North Texas last night 69-64 at United Spirit Arena. Robert Lewandowski scored 17 points followed by Ty Nurse who chipped in 15 for the Red Raiders. North Texas was led by Chris Jones with 31 points.

Tech led 37-34 at halftime throughout the close game and shot 23 of 25 at the Foul line. North Texas shot 17 of 21 from the line. The Mean Green (1-1) cut the Red Raiders' lead to one three times in the final 2 minutes, but Texas Tech hit a pair of free throws after each North Texas basket during the stretch to put the lead back to three.

Texas Tech (2-0) will host Stephen F. Austin Saturday in Lubbock.
