Texas Tech Red Raider Softball (31-9, 4-4 Big 12) hosts No. 5 Texas Wednesday night after losing a tough weekend series two of three games to then ranked No. 5 Oklahoma. Texas lost their first two games of the Big 12 Conference season at home to No. 9 Missouri losing two of three games.

The Red Raiders (31-9, 4-4 Big 12) have now won 30 games in three consecutive seasons, all under Head Coach Shannon Hays, and poised for a third straight season where they earn a bid to the NCAA Tournament. Texas has won nine consecutive versus Texas Tech and include the previous two victories for Texas (8-0 in 6 inn and 2-1) last month. Texas won both games in Lubbock last season.

The Red Raiders have made some noise in the latest RPI rankings this week moving up one spot to No. 28. Currently Tech is fifth in the RPI rankings behind No. 4 Texas, No. 8 Oklahoma, No. 14 Missouri, No. 17 Texas A&M, then Texas Tech. The Red Raiders will face No. 9 Missouri this weekend in Columbia, MO before returning home to host Texas A&M on April 17th and 18th for a three game series.
