Lubbock Christian Chaparral Baseball opened the 2012 season with a 10-8 victory over the Northwood Knights in Cedar Hill, TX at Knights Field.

Northwood Center Fielder Austin Atwell hit a solo home run in the 1st inning with one out to give the Knights a 1-0 lead. LCU would comeback in the next half inning in the 2nd with 2 runs on 4 hits led by Chaps Left Fielder Richard Bohlken who doubled and then Catcher Jason Fisch homering to left center field. Fisch would finish the game going 3 for 5 at the plate with 4 RBI.

The teams would exchange scores until LCU broke open a 3-3 tie in the 8th inning with seven run outburst with only for hits as Northwood would walk or hit three batters in the inning and commit a crippling error as LCU took a 10-3 lead. Northwood would score in the 8th and 9th inning to pull within two runs, but couldn't overcome the seven run deficit.

Reliever Kyle Forsyth (1-0) earned the victory for LCU going two innings giving up two runs on two hits with two strikeouts. Keaton Parcell took the loss for Northwood pitching one inning giving up three runs on one hit while walking two Chap batter.

LCU and Northwood will play a double header tomorrow starting at noon and then the Chaps will face Texas Wesleyan Sunday in Fort Worth at noon.
