The Oakland Athletics defeated the Texas Rangers 3-2 in 10 innings.  George Kottaras belted a leadoff home run in the 10th to propell the Athletics to victory.  With the win, Oakland moved within four games of the AL West lead and two games ahead of the Los Angeles Angels for the second AL wild-card spot.

The magic number remains at five for the Rangers to clinch the division.

Evan Scribner picked up his first win for Oakland on the season.

Texas was without Pitcher Yu Darvish, who was taken out of the starting line up about 2 and a half hours before game time because of a stiff neck. He was replaced by Scott Feldman who was removed in the fifth after giving up two runs, four hits and a lead off single to Kottaras.

The two teams are back in action tonight for the third game of their four game series.  Taking the mound for the Rangers is Martin Perez while the Athletics will have Jarrod Parker on the mound.  First pitch is at 7:05 PM
