Pete Garcia, the man currently charged in the shooting death of Orestes "West" Garza, allegedly sent threatening messages to his ex-wife Judy Garcia.

Garcia's arrest warrant sheds additional light on the timeline of the shooting, including threats he reportedly made against his ex-wife and Garza.

According to Mrs. Garcia, who was at the church with Garza when he was shot, her ex-husband told her within the last two weeks that he had bought a gun and was "going to fix the problem." The couple had divorced in October 2015 after 32 years of marriage.

Garcia claims she brought the messages to the attention of the Lubbock Police Department, as well as the fact that she saw her ex-husband driving near her home at different times.

Other than being told an investigation would be conducted, Mrs. Garcia was told "nothing else could be done," according to the arrest warrant.

The arrest warrant reveals that Mrs. Garcia entered a vehicle after Sunday mass at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church and waited for Garza. When she saw Garza, he was running and Pete Garcia was chasing him with a gun.

"She observed the gun pointed at the victim’s back and then heard four gunshots," the arrest warrant reads.

Pete Garcia is currently in custody at the Hockley County jail after turning himself in to Levelland police Sunday night after the shooting. Garcia has been charged with murder and is being held on a $1 million bond.
