A car crash early Thursday morning (August 27) left more than 200 Lubbock residents without power.

Lubbock Police report a car driven by 19-year-old Dax Hayes was heading northbound when it struck power poles located on 4th St. and Slide Rd.

Hayes then tried to flee the scene, but police found him as he tried to escape on foot after his car broke down.

Hayes was taken directly to University Medical Center, and police say alcohol could be a contributing factor in the crash.

The investigation is on-going.
