For a team that won two straight AL West titles and dropped a chance for a third to Oakland on the final day of the season you wouldn’t think there would be many question marks heading into the off-season, but that’s not the case with this year’s Texas Rangers.
The Oakland Athletics defeated the Texas Rangers 3-2 in 10 innings. George Kottaras belted a leadoff home run in the 10th to propell the Athletics to victory. With the win, Oakland moved within four games of the AL West lead and two games ahead of the Los Angeles Angels for the second AL wild-card spot.
Texas Rangers closer Joe Nathan saw his club record 31 straight save chances come to an end as he allowed three runs in the ninth in a 5-4 loss to the Cleveland Indians. Nathan's last blown save came back in April.
