The Texas Rangers are in the playoffs for the third consecutive year and tonight they will be a part of history as they play in the first American League Wild Card Game against the Baltimore Orioles.

Patrick Despain from ShutdownInning.com joined Scott Fitzgerald and Alan Berger in the Sports Shack today to discuss the Rangers.

Concerning the Rangers "collapse" from first place in the AL West, Despain said it wasn't a collapse, "I don't think the Rangers collapsed. Instead, we should be talking about Oakland's incredible resurgence."  The A's won the American League West and they will play Detroit in the ALDS.

Despain also said to not count out the Yankees from making the World Series. He thinks they only need a little bit of "confidence" this post season to make some noise.

The Rangers host the Orioles tonight at 7:30p at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. Yu Darvish takes the mound for Texas and Joe Saunders for Baltimore.  The game will be telecast on TBS.
