In what could be the first of many throughout an illustrious career Patrick Mahomes was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week, announced via the @NFL on Twitter:

The Kansas City Cannon was 15-of-27 for 256 yards and four touchdowns in the win, posting an AFC-best 127.5 passer rating.

According to chiefs.com, "He’s the fifth-youngest quarterback since 1970 to toss four or more touchdowns in a season-opener and just the sixth passer in franchise history to throw for at least four scores without an interception."

It's a great start to what is hopefully a special season that could quickly turn into real Super Bowl aspirations if Mahomes keeps it up. Kliff Kingsbury said in his weekly press conference that he is keeping an eye on several former players but expects something special when Mahomes captures the inevitable MVP trophy in the future.
