Roy Halladay pitched a complete game six-hitter to lead Philadelphia to 1-0 win over the Houston Astros and finally clinching playoff spot in the National League Wednesday afternoon in Houston.

The Phillies clinched at least a wild-card berth and appear in the postseason for the fifth consecutive season behind the formula of solid pitching and timely hitting.

Shane Victorino doubled in the first inning and scored the only run on Placido Polanco's single.

Halladay (18-5) escaped trouble in the second and seventh, finishing with seven strikeouts and one walk in his 20th career shutout and first this season.

Bud Norris (6-10) took the loss for Houston throwing seven solid innings with three strikeouts and only four hits allowed.

The Astros are at 51-98 on the season and approaching the end of disastrous season with 100 losses on the horizon.
