The Pittsburgh Pirates were the second best team in the MLB this year. This week they faced the likely NL Cy Young winner Jake Arrieta and are now going home. After losing the one-game playoff to the Cubs, the Pirates have another frustrating finish to another good year.

Arrieta plunked a Pirate or two early in the game, and when he came up to bat in the 7th inning, all bets were off. The Pirate on the mound, Tony Watson, followed baseball's unwritten code of ethics: "You must revenge bean a member of the team that beaned your team."

In the NL there is no DH, so when Arrieta came up to bat in the 7th inning, Watson made his move and plunked Arrieta right in the ham. Arrieta walked slowly down the line and then yelled at Watson, creating a bench-clearing incident.

There was some pushing and shoving. I did not see any punches thrown...until Sean Rodriguez was ejected and returned to the dugout.

Easily the maddest man in the stadium, Rodriguez released a lifetime of anger onto the Gatorade cooler in the dugout. That's when the internet did what the internet does.
