The Houston Astros matched the Texas rangers yesterday, in that they both got swept. The Astros lost their division rival the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-4 for the Pirates first sweep of the season.

This is the first time the Pirates have been 2 games above .500 this late in the season since July 1999.

The Pirates got on the board early and never trailed. Garrett Jones hit a 3 run homer in the top of the 1st for the Pirates.

The Astros tied it up in the 5th with some smart hitting and base running to knot it up at 3 a piece but that didn’t last long.

Center Fielder Michael Bourn errored on a routine fly ball that allowed the Pirates to take a 4-3 lead and set up a man on 1st for the following double to give the Pirates an insurance run.

Jeff Keppinger did his part for the rally driving in a run to make it a 1 run game but the rally fell short.

Jordan Lyles was on the mound for the Astros and got the loss. Lyles went 5 2/3rd innings after giving up 5 runs on 4 hits. This is Lyles 3rd consecutive loss in as many starts.
