The Dallas Mavericks ran out of steam in the second half of last night’s 106-104 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers. Dallas had a 59-42 at halftime. Portland then outscored Dallas 32-21 in the 3rd period and 32-24 in the 4th period. Dallas still had a chance to send the game into overtime, but LaMarcus Aldridge hit an 18-foot jumper at the buzzer to win the game for Portland.

“Obviously give them credit. You know, give them some kudos. They kept fighting, made shots when shots were needed, got stops when stops were needed, and we can’t get comfortable," said O.J. Mayo to DallasMavericks.com. "We’ve got to continue playing the entire game out and we’ve got to step on an opponent’s neck and not let them get going." Mayo played 38 minutes and scored 15 points.

Dirk Nowitzki led the Mavericks with a season-high 26 points.

The Mavericks' next game is Thursday at Golden State.
