Before Sunday’s game against the Houston Astros, the Texas Rangers placed right-hander Nick Tepesch and designated hitter Lance Berkman on the disabled list. Tepesch has inflammation in right elbow while Berkman injured a muscle in his hip and back in the loss Saturday to Houston.

The Rangers had five scoreless innings from their bullpen Sunday to outlast the Astros for a 5-4 victory in Arlington. Jeff Soria made his 2013 debut after having Tommy John Surgery throwing a scoreless sixth inning.

The Rangers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning off a three-run home run from catcher A.J. Pierzynski. Third baseman Adrian Beltre also homered for Texas in the win.

Closer Joe Nathan recorded his 29th save of the season.

The Rangers return to action tonight in Baltimore starting a seven game road trip. Derek Holland takes the hill tonight against former Texas Ranger and Chicago Cub Scott Feldman. Feldman was recently acquired by the Orioles from Chicago. First pitch from Camden Yards is set for 6:05 p.m.

The Astros have today off as they will travel to St. Louis for a two-game series against the Cardinal starting Tuesday night.

Other news and notes from the Rangers saw Manny Ramirez make his debut with Triple-A Round Rock. Ramirez went 1 for 3 in his debut three days after joining the Rangers on a minor league contract. The 12-time All-Star hasn’t played in the majors since 2011 with Tampa Bay.
