While not as sharp as it was on Saturday, the Tech bullpen held off the Bears’ offense in support of  starter Dylan Dusek. Dusek worked four innings, while taking a no decision, allowing a run on three hits with three strikeouts and a walk.

Sophomore Ty Damron pitched two innings allowing one earned run on three hits with one walk and one strike out to pick up the win and improve his season record to 3-2.

Right-hander, Matt Custred, gave up three runs on two hit and two walks in his one inning of work. Matt Withrow and Dominic Moreno both came in and worked a scoreless inning each to close out the win for the Red Raiders (22-14, 7-5).

Bears starter Nick Lewis (1-1) suffered his first loss of the season allowing four runs on five hits in three innings with two walks.

Baylor’s record fell to 13-22 overall, and 4-8 in conference play.

The victory marked the first time the Red Raiders swept the Bears since 2004.

In addition to Davis’ three doubles, sophomore outfielder Stephen Smith hit his team-leading sixth home run of the season going 2-for-5 with two runs and three RBI. Smith has hit four home runs in his last seven games. Senior infielder Tim Proudfoot came off the bench to hit his second home run of the season.

Eight Red Raiders had base hits in the game while out-hitting the Bears, 13-10.  Eric Gutierrez, 2-for-4, and freshman shortstop, Orlando Garcia, 2-for-5, also had multi-hit games for Tech.

Gutierrez now has a 10-game hitting streak. Teammate Tyler Neslony had a hit expanding his streak to eight games. Neslony is batting .400 (14-for-35) with three runs, three doubles, three RBI and three walks during hit streak.

Tech will return to the road for its third straight midweek road game on Tuesday, April 14 at Abilene Christian with a 6:30 p.m. first pitch at Scott-Crutcher Field in Abilene, Texas.
