The Dallas Mavericks announced Tuesday they have re-signed head coach Rick Carlisle to a four-year deal, with an option clause that could extend the contract.

His original four-year deal signed in 2008 was set to expire on July 1st.

Carlisle is 198-114 with Dallas. The Mavericks are coming off a 36-30 year and a first-round sweep at the hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder, but he led Dallas to its lone championship last season in the franchises 32-year history.

In 10 seasons as a head coach, Carlisle is 479-325 (.596). He spent two seasons with the Detroit Pistons and then four with the Indiana Pacers, guiding both franchises to the Eastern Conference finals. He was named 2001-02 NBA Coach of the Year after his first season with the Pistons.
