Former Texas Tech star Sammy Morris has inked a deal with the Dallas Cowboys to fill in for injured starter DeMarco Murray. Morris was drafted in the fifth round by Buffalo in 2000 out of Texas Tech. He has 2,955 career yards and 26 touchdown in his NFL stops with the Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins and the New England Patriots.

Murray was sidelined with a broken right ankle in Sunday night's 37-34 loss to the New York Giants. Murray, a rookie who had a franchise-record 253-yard game in October, finishes the year with 897 yards and two touchdowns.

The Cowboys also signed Mana Silva to replace the injured Barry Church. Both Church and Murray are done for the season and have been placed on injured reserve.
