After leading the aging San Antonio Spurs to the number one seed in the Western Conference, San Antonio head coach Greg Popovich has been named coach of the year. With the season greatly shortened due to the lockout, Popovich still managed to lead the Spurs to a 50 win season. 50 wins is pretty amazing considering that their were only 66 games this season, making their winning percentage around 75%.

The even more astounding accomplishment for the Spurs is that after starting the season 12-9, they lost only seven games the rest of the way through the season. This is Popovichs second time to receive the award, he also won back in 2003.

The Spurs are currently 1 game up on the best of seven series against Utah.
