Shallowater ISD officials have stated that a district employee may have engaged in "an inappropriate social media interaction" with a student.

Dr. Kenneth Border, Shallowater ISD Superintendent, released (in part) the following message:

Recently, the Shallowater ISD Administration received information that a Shallowater ISD employee may have engaged in inappropriate social media interaction with a District student. Pursuant to the District’s customary personnel practices, the employee was immediately placed on administrative leave, an internal investigation was initiated, and reports of the alleged misconduct were made to appropriate law enforcement authorities and the state’s educator licensing agency.

The identities of the employee and the student have not been released.

The district said it will cooperate with local authorities while conducting their own investigation into the situation.
