Pitcher Rusty Shellhorn led Texas Tech to a 7-0 victory over Missouri. Shellhorn pitched seven near perfect innings, giving up only 2 base hits with 7 strikeouts.

The two weekend wins over Missouri is the Red Raiders first Big 12 series win of the season. Shellhorn earned the win, improving to 5-2 on the season. The win over Mizzou was also Texas Tech's first shut out victory over a Big 12 opponent since 2011.

Much like Shellhorn led the way for the Red Raiders defense, Brennan Moore led the way for the Tech offense, batting 3-3 with two RBI and a triple. Reid Redman also recorded a solid night, going 2-3 for the Red Raiders.

The series win over Missouri was desperately needed for the Red Raiders, as they had yet to win a Big 12 series. With the Big 12 tournament looming, the Red Raiders essentially need to win out to have a chance at any sort of post season play.
